Counting Seeds

Part of our math class today was counting by 10s. First, we estimated how many seeds our pumpkins would have, then the fun of "gutting" them and finally, counting the seeds. Tonight, some students will be going home with some of the seeds to roast for snack on Monday.

It's Pumpkin Tasting Time!

Today we finished up talking about our 5 senses and tasted pumpkin puree. As you can see, the students liked the pumpkin cookies I made (with chocolate chips) better than the plain puree. I am including the cookie recipe for you if you want to try these at home.

Our classroom is all about pumpkins these days. Everyone has had the opportunity to choose their own pumpkin and we are learning about their life cycle, measurements, parts of the pumpkin and writing about them. Here are some pictures of the students measuring the height of their pumpkins. 

October Facts & Fun

The bumpy lines on a pumpkin are called "ribs." You have ribs too! Can you think of any other parts of a pumpkin that are like you? Don't forget to think about the inside of the pumpkin too! 

It's All About Bus Safety!

Today we learned all about bus safety from our bus drivers. Thank you for teaching us how to be safe on the bus.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today we are celebrating Thanksgiving with a Harvest Lunch.

We thought about what we were thankful for and wrote our ideas on leaves

 to decorate the gym.

Harvest Lunch was a HUGE success! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this event happen. We are very thankful to Mrs. Eggie and her catering company for the yummy lunch.

Terry Fox

Terry Fox believed that "anything is possible if you try." This quote reminds us to keep on trying even when things are difficult.  Students at Taylor School participated in a walk to celebrate Terry's dream. We discussed our own dreams and that although it might be difficult at times, if we believe in our dreams it is worth working hard for them.
