Time Capsule Family Activity

Here is a cool family activity to do at home during this time.
Are you going to try this at home?
What are you going to put in your time capsule?

2B Top Dogs Class Meeting

WOW! What a great way to start the day today by seeing all your happy faces!
I can't believe how much better I feel after seeing all of you this morning, my only wish is that I could see you all in person and give you hugs and high fives!

Signs of spring...there have been a more and more these days. Shae said that the river by his house doesn't have any ice on it any more and that they have seen bears by their house!

Megan said she has seen some butterflies. I love butterflies, dragonflies and ladybugs, but I do not like wood ticks.

Bryden said he has heard and seen Canada Geese by his house and I know that he is busy working and helping on the farm with the baby calves. All signs of spring!

Mason and Grace said they have been out bike riding and Tripp said there isn't any snow left in his backyard.

Thanks for joining me this morning on Zoom. I will send out an email to families to arrange another meeting next week. I hope you all have a great rest of your day!

Missing you every day,
Ms. C

Hi everyone,

I have posted a one week package for you all to try at home this week.
A new spelling lesson #27, continue working in your phonics books on units 5 & 6 (remember to go at your own pace and ask for help if you don't understand) and one comprehension story a week.

What are you doing at home? Are you missing school? I am really missing school a lot, I miss hearing all your stories and seeing your happy faces. I am working really hard at learning how to use Zoom to connect you to an online classroom so we can see each other. I hope to get that working this week to send out to families.

Are you having trouble focusing at home? I sometimes find it difficult to get all my work done I want to. What is most important right now is that we are healthy and we do what we can to help our families get through this difficult time. I know you are all doing your best!

I hope to see all your happy faces soon!

Take care,
Ms. C

Fun at Home

It was so great to receive these pictures this week! I love seeing your faces and learning more about what you are doing at home. Keep sending in those pictures!

Dear Parents,

These are the second package notes that were sent home. There will be another instruction package posted here next week. You will have everything you need at home. (Phonics, Spelling, Jump Math) so you do not need to come to the school. If you need more reading books, please contact me and I can arrange for you to pick up a package at the school.

I miss seeing the kiddos and hearing about how everyone is doing! I'd love to hear more about what the kids are doing at home, if you would like to share a picture and a note using the Remind app, that would be great!

I hope the sun will come out soon and we can spend a little more time outside.

Missing you,
Ms. C

Package #2 Instructions

Hi everyone!

I am working on many different projects for class and hope to connect with you soon to set up an online chat. Are you interested in meeting in an online classroom with me? Please drop me a message to let me know if you are interested and I will send out an invite to our class when I have a date and time ready for you.

Have a great day everyone, I can't wait to see your faces and hear your stories!

Much love,

Missing You!

Wow!  What great work you all are doing! Almost everyone has picked up their package #2 and you are all doing wonderful work at home.

I am currently trying to set up opportunities for educational assistants to make phone calls to students. This would be specifically for support workers to listen to students read.
If you are interested in this, please contact me.

I am also looking at creating a virtual classroom. This is still in the early stages but I hope to have this available in the next 2 weeks.

Please keep checking this blog for more information. I am using the Remind App along with email to try and stay in contact with everyone.

I hope you are all well. I miss all of you and hope to see you again soon!

Ms. C

Dear Families

Hello families,

I hope this finds you all well and safe at home. We are all trying to navigate this new situation, and I will do my best to try and connect with you all this coming week.

On Monday and Thursday from 9-12, there will be packages available for you to pick up for your child. In these packages, I have all their desk materials, running shoes, books and supplies. This includes spelling, phonics, printing and math workbooks. If you have some work to return *including library books and classroom books
there are drop off buckets provided. If you could have your child's returning work bundled and labelled, that would save time when dropping off supplies.

I have included a 2 week home learning package that suggests what areas of study you can start working on with your child at home. This is only a suggestion. We are in difficult times and learning at home can be extremely difficult. I know some of you are still working outside of the home, and some are working from home as you manage family obligations at the same time. This should be the only large package you will need to get from the school for the rest of the year.

What is most important is that you are safe and healthy.

Everything else will fall into place.

I would like to connect with each family this week to see if there is anything else I can do to support your child's learning from home. Did you get a chance to look at the package sent home before spring break? Have you made arrangements to pick up your child's remaining supplies? This should be the only large package to pick up from the school. What additional supports are needed for your child?

Going forward, every 2 weeks I will be posting a new plan using the supplies provided in the second package. Our focus is on mathematics and literacy skills. These plans will be posted on our class blog. http://kcarterclass.blogspot.com/  This should allow families to stay at home and limit physical contact at the school.

Please take a minute or two to contact me via email kcarter@svsd.ca, or using the Remind app, or call the school 204 734 4593 and let me know..

Did you get a chance to look at the package sent home before spring break?

Have you made arrangements to pick up your child's remaining supplies?

What additional supports are needed for your child?

I hope to hear from you! If I don't hear from you this week, I will phone you to make that connection.

I hope you all are well. I miss seeing the kids and hearing all their stories! Please say a
BIG HELLO from me.

Stay safe and healthy!

Sincerely,

Ms. Carter
