Poems & Pies Presentation October 31

The grade 2 classes are putting on a "Poems and Pie" presentation on Monday, October 31st at 11:00 in the gym. Hope you can attend.
After the presentation, you are welcome to bring a lunch and eat with your child. After lunch, we will be having pie for dessert.
We will need some pies for dessert. If you are able to make a pie, please put a note in the agenda. We would like the students to bring their Halloween costumes to school and get changed at recess. Costumes will be taken off at noon and can go home with parents.
We will be having a small Halloween party after last recess. We will be doing some crafts and watching a Halloween safety video.
If you have any questions, please call or send a note.

Counting Seeds

Part of our math class today was counting by 10s. First, we estimated how many seeds our pumpkins would have, then the fun of "gutting" them and finally, counting the seeds. Tonight, some students will be going home with some of the seeds to roast for snack on Monday.

Digging out the guts of the pumpkins....

That was FUN!

Then came the counting....

It's Pumpkin Tasting Time!

Today we finished up talking about our 5 senses and tasted pumpkin puree. As you can see, the students liked the pumpkin cookies I made (with chocolate chips) better than the plain puree. I am including the cookie recipe for you if you want to try these at home.

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins

Our classroom is all about pumpkins these days. Everyone has had the opportunity to choose their own pumpkin and we are learning about their life cycle, measurements, parts of the pumpkin and writing about them. Here are some pictures of the students measuring the height of their pumpkins.
